Date Night Chocolate Fondue (Printable)

Silky chocolate blend paired with fruits and treats for an easy, romantic indulgence.

# What You'll Need:

→ Chocolate Base

01 - 5.3 oz high-quality dark chocolate (60–70% cocoa), chopped
02 - 6.76 fl oz heavy cream
03 - 1 tbsp unsalted butter
04 - 1 tsp vanilla extract

→ Dippers

05 - 1 small banana, sliced
06 - 6 fresh strawberries, hulled
07 - 1 kiwi, peeled and cut into chunks
08 - 1 handful marshmallows
09 - 4–6 cubes pound cake or brioche
10 - 1 handful pretzel sticks

# How To Make It:

01 - Combine heavy cream and butter in a small saucepan over low heat. Heat gently until butter melts and cream is steaming, being careful not to boil.
02 - Remove saucepan from heat. Add chopped chocolate and let sit for 1 minute to begin melting. Stir continuously until mixture becomes completely smooth and glossy.
03 - Stir in vanilla extract. Transfer chocolate mixture to a fondue pot or heatproof bowl positioned over a tea light to maintain warmth.
04 - Organize all prepared fruits, cake cubes, marshmallows, and pretzels on an attractive serving platter for easy access.
05 - Use fondue forks or skewers to dip fruits, cake, marshmallows, and pretzels into warm chocolate. Serve immediately while chocolate maintains optimal consistency.

# Expert Tips:

01 -
  • The ritual of dipping somehow makes even the simplest ingredients feel luxurious and intentional
  • It creates natural pauses in conversation that are perfect for lazy evenings together
  • Failed attempts aside, nothing beats the satisfaction of getting that silky smooth consistency on the first try
02 -
  • Even a tiny drop of water will seize your chocolate into an unfixable grainy mess, so keep your equipment completely dry
  • Low and slow is nonnegotiable here, rushed heat will scorch the cream and ruin the texture
  • The fondue thickens as it cools, so keep that flame going and stir occasionally if it starts to feel too heavy
03 -
  • Chop your chocolate into uniformly small pieces so they melt evenly and quickly
  • Have your dippers completely ready before you start melting since the chocolate is best immediately after it is made
  • If the fondue does seize, whisk in a teaspoon of vegetable oil one drop at a time to try to save it
